Patti Bruce and her Decorative Arts Studio’s most fulfilling moments are actually being in the process of creation and seeing a creation through to its completion, “it gives me energy and motivation and is what makes the world work.” Patti finds inspiration in almost everything she sees from man-made to nature-made, and she loves seeing other artist’s work and being motivated by their own inspiration.
Welcome to my website and thanks for taking the time to scroll through. I have been doing Decorative Art (murals, trompe l’oeil, gilding, Venetian plaster, custom stenciling, UP-stlyed furniture), Interior Design and Fine Art for over 35 years spending the past 28 of them on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii. The first couple of decades were spent mostly living abroad in Europe and Asia with a couple of scattered years along the west & east coasts of the US. Bruce came to Hawaii in the mid 80’s with the intention of only staying for a year but started her Decorative Arts business in 1991 and has never left.
She has collaborated with Hawaii’s top designers and architects on numerous award-winning projects and is the 2006 winner of HGTV’s Designer’s Challenge. Along with decorative arts Patti had a successful cottage industry business manufacturing custom hand painted children’s furniture which was featured in Neiman Marcus, The Four Seasons – Hualalai, Paradizzio and other boutique stores throughout the state. Her furniture now resides in homes across the globe from Japan to NY. When not doing decorative art she spends her time painting the beautiful landmarks and landscapes of the Hawaiian Islands. Her artwork has been featured in numerous galleries around the state that include, Martin & MacArthur, Island Treasures, Four Seasons Hualalai, Red Bamboo, Jameson’s and other Hawaii showrooms and galleries. Her art and design has been published in local and national magazines and newspapers and has a feature in a book on Decorative Art “Sophisiticated Surfaces”.
